Cooking With Gas Revisited
Your august '07 "Cooking with gas" rticle recommended techron for fuelsystem lls. I have not been prone to using dditives, but this caught my eye because y low-mileage '90 convertible (55,000) ad developed an idle roughness problem hat I had been unable to cure. I tried a dose of this additive and cured the problem totally. I saw a follow-up on this article n your December First turn department, hich specifically mentioned the TPI l98 nd suggested it might not be recommended. he reply supported using the Techron, and I thought I would pass on my practical experience. It worked for me

Getting It Up There
I have a '66 coupe I bought new, sold in 1969, and bought back in 1983 after seven other owners. Over the winter, I will be pulling a small-block that came in the car when I found it and replacing it with a correct dated big-block that the car originally had. I will be doing this in a two-car garage with limited space. In your December issue, the car looks like it is on a two-post lift that is much closer than anything I have been able to find on the market. Is there anyway to learn if I'm right about this, and would you be able to point me in a direction that can help?
Ed Distler, Via E-mail
You have a good eye, Ed. The lift shown in our December '07 issue is a Direct Lift /Hanmecson Pro-V10 2-post lift. This is a very special lift because you can load a car either asymmetrical or symmetrical. It is virtually two lifts in one. It has a single point safety release, an automatic arm restraint, is height adjustable, and has oversized cylinders. It can be bought at Benco Equipment, Bismarck, North Dakota, 888/799-8083, www.bencostuff.com. Kim Madsen told me he did a ton of research before he bought the lifts for Corvette Restoration AZ, and he loves it.
More People Cruzin' Route 66
Red Corvettes and route 66 go together. I have recently traveled the whole mother road with my friend Fred Klem from Dawson Creek, British Columbia, in his red '94. We saw red Corvettes displayed on fridge magnets, bumper stickers, and memorabilia all up and down the mother road. Many people would comment, "that's the way to do the route . . . in a red Corvette."

Split Personality C2 Missing In Action
Last year, you started a series of good articles on Rich Lagasse's '63 Corvette Z06 split Personality project car and did Part 1 and 2 with several more to go. When will they continue? Jim Irwin, Burnaby, Canada Actually, we ran four articles on the car, in our '07 February, March, April, and June issues. Because the car was being built for a major U.S. automotive award, we had to be careful how the car was presented in the magazine. Due to build issues that could not be avoided, the car is still being built but is now almost complete as we go to press. Rich just submitted Part 5, which covers exhaust, fuel, and engine wiring, and it should run soon. To catch up, all four articles are posted at www.corvettefever.com.
We traveled mainly on two-lane roads, minimum interstate. We even found the narrow 9-foot-wide ribbon road. We saw many traveling "pilgrims" like ourselves, and spoke to a few "prophets" at the restored gas stations, refitted motels, and curio shops all along the road. We spent two weeks and cruised about 200 miles each day. Our red Corvette queen operated flawlessly and averaged 24 mpg. the roads are well maintained and marked in most states. We encourage you to cruise route 66, or any part of it you can afford the time for. any color Corvette will do. you will be welcomed everywhere and rewarded with great memories.Joe Wachsmuth, Calgary, Alberta
